Chateaubriand Flambe for Two, Romantic Dinner with Candlelight...

Order Chateaubriand Flambe for two at the table side.
What could be more romantic in the most elegant, intimate and historic restaurant in Prague.

We were delighted to see the restaurant newly reopened, as it was under restoration last year. We walked in to make reservations and were looking forward to our celebratory dinner.
Both rooms, one on each side of the small entry are beautiful. We chose to dine in the larger dinning room to the right. We always ask for the same beautifully situated table by the original stained glass windows and view of the fireplace. The ceilings are intricate, hand painted and beautiful.

We were promptly seated on arrival, and had a friendly chat about our previous experiences here, before the evening got busy. The staff is new, at least to us, we did not recognize anyone from years back, but they could not be friendlier. We were just truly happy we could return to a place that was not changed, restored with utmost care, true to its old glory.
Established in 1543, it is one of the oldest restaurants in Prague, if not the oldest.

We both had Proseco, to celebrate our return, and my husband later had his favorite GT. I had some special sparkling bottled water.

After much debating we ordered the Lobster Bisque again, second time in Prague this year. Hmm, never thought to find that to be popular in Prague. The soup was delicious and slightly different, what we had in Francouska restaurant the night before. It was rich and creamy, but a little darker, perhaps paprika was added or darker sherry? Still, very good, indeed.

The star of the evening - the Chateaubriand for two followed. Flambeed at the table,it was skillfully done - a great show with flames shooting up high and an amazing and flavorful result. The finest tenderloin was cooked to perfection, medium rare and it was truly a feast. It came with a side of tiny potatoes and a wonderful red wine mushroom reduction. We drank Pilsner, nicely chilled.

With the delicious bread to start, the amuse bouche, sorbet to cleanse palate, we had no room left for dessert. Or so we thought. Until we were presented with complimentary small chocolates. Perfect ending to a perfect dinner !

The service that night was just perfection. Professional, friendly, unobtrusive.
In one word - classy! Our waiters Tomas and Milan made our evening the most enjoyable and long to be remembered.

I saved the evening's bill for this important detail to include in the review. The 2518 CZK before tip seemed like a bargain to us for the amazing experience.
It was truly our BEST dinner while in Prague this year.

Zpátky do historie

Excellent Dinner away from the crowds
Had a wonderful relaxed dinner with impeccable service. Food was inventive, beautifully presented. Portions were adequate given the number of courses and extra " goodies" such as the unexpected amuse bouche. But most of all the restaurant was a great respite from the crowds and repetitive menus found in so many Prague restaurants. A true oasis on the Castle side of the Charles bridge.

Excellent Upscale Restaurant
We ate there last night. The ambience is great. The restaurant itself, the oldest in Prague, is beautiful. The service is unrushed. The food was excellent. Our entrees were the trout fillet and the steak Entrecôte. The price for two people, including three glasses of French red wine and a bottle of Icelandic spring water, was approximately $53, including tip. We didn't order appetizers or dessert because we weren't that hungry. With those, I imagine the price would have doubled, but that still would be reasonable for the quality and ambience.

“Everything excellent!”
This restaurant is located in an historic, beautiful building. Candles and white tablecloths. Wonderful, friendly, professional service. Food is Czech with a French twist. Wonderful. Foie grass as an appetizer; two kinds of duck (confit and breast) with delicious red cabbage. We could not have had a more wonderful evening! Highly recommended!

Extraordinary European Adventure
The oldest restaurant in Prague, as the name say, established in 1543. Prices are a bit on the high side but still much lower than you would find in Manhattan. We had the "Bohemian," a five course delight, and the Duck Breast and a Strawberry Flambé for desert, prepared at out table of course. The service was Old World Europe at it's best; unbelievable! And the food to die for, especially the Flambé. The sauce was so good you wanted to lick the plate! This place should not be missed if you visit this beautiful city. For a special hidden treat, ask if you can see the "gentleman's" smoking room and bar in the lower level.

The end of a two week tour of Europe was spent with dinner at U Maliru 1543. Everything about the meal was top drawer. The best ambiance, the best service, the best menu, the best ingredients, the best presentation, and the the best taste. There were eight of us in a private dining room, you felt like the only diners in the restaurant. You can do no better than U Maliru 1543.

My wife and I dined at U Maliru in early May.. .. A superb scallop starter, a melt in the mouth fish dish for main combined with the finishing touches one would expect from a Michelin star establishment - oh and a fine bottle of Sancerre - all for less than £140.
I am the first to complain about poor service etc but our experience was very different from the two recent negative reviews. I find it hard to fault this restaurant on the quality of its food, the fine service we received and the very reasonable pricing versus other establishments.

Came for lunch without a booking. Situated near St Nicholas cathedral. They were not busy which worried us initially. This restaurant is situated inside a very old house. The staff are very friendly. Once you are seated they give you a brief history of the building and the restaurant. The food is amazing. Once the meal started we were wondering why this place is not packed. Prices are reasonable for the quality. They have 2 tasting menu with optional wine pairing and also an a la carte menu. Must visit when in Prague.

With my husband, and dear friends, we finished a trip to Prague at this very fine restaurant. We arrived around 10 PM following a chamber concert to find exceptional service, wonderful food, a very good wine list an warm, relaxing atmosphere.
Though we arrived at a late hour, we were greeted with warmth and smiles followed by wonderful canapés.
Our food was beautifully prepared and presented.
I cannot over-recommend U Maliru 1543 to those willing to experience a wonderful Prague evening.

My friend took the bohemia tasting menu (tschek specialties) and i ate a starter (beetroot goatcheese quinoa) and a main course (potato gnochhi, black truffel and spinach) which were excellent. For no additional price we got four different kind of "snacks" between meals which also were excellent. And after dessert we also got three different kind of chocolates. Service was excellent and fast. Highly recommend this place!!! And the price was not bad at all!!

You will have to search a little to find this restaurant, it is located on a quiet square, in old Prague, but only a few minutes walk from Charles Bridge, but it will be well worth it. The food is delicious and well presented and the service is exemplary. The dining room is beautifully decorated with vaulted ceilings and wood panelling. They have a bottle of rather old Armagnac, which is worth a try if you have okayed with your bank manager beforehand! I would recommend this restaurant to any discerning diner.

Camerieri ineccepibili.

My boyfriend invited me to the restaurant this week. I have never seen such a beautiful place like that at all. Nice paintings, new bar as a reception and warm atmosphere. We had 2 Exclusive menus. What to say - WOW. Great food, brilliant wine pairing, educated and friendly service. The prices are higher, but the perfect cuisine and ambience will take you to the heaven.
Unforgetable!!!

This is a beautiful restaurant in a heart of the old Prague. It's suitable for romantic dinner for two or party of large groups. We came for lunch and choose the lunch menu which was fantastic. We also checked the dinner menu because we'd definitely come back in the future. Food is inspired by French influence with Czech twist and is beautifully presented. All courses are carefully matched with wine from extensive cellar and recommended by very knowledgeable sommelier. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to dine in style.

On a quiet square, just south off Charles bridge, on the left bank. Hadn't seen the listing, attracted by the interesting menu offer though ended up selecting the St Martin's special menu, based on goose. It did not disappoint, varied, and not heavy, accompanied by an excellent Czech merlot. And their crémant is super ! One of our group is a light eater, so, without saying, chose vegetarian alternatives, and, unprompted, the amuse bouche offered was too! Service unobtrusive, quite informal, and well timed. All in, more expensive than many others, yes, but well worth it for fine and memorable dining in historic surroundings.

This place is quite fancy and expensive, but they live up to the expectations! Two years ago I tried my first beef tartare here and was amazed at how tasty it was. This visit they didn't have it on the menu, but kindly offered to prepare it for us. Once again it was more than great and we even found the time to go there again during our short stay. The stuff is friendly and open, the quality of food was really good. We went both times to get lunch and there always was a table or two free, but I can't say how busy it might get at the dinner time.
The little homemade bread buns and butter that come first were already delicious, so was everything else.
It is pretty pricey, but we felt it was appropriate for what we received.
Thank you and until next time!
P.S: compliments to the Chef for his great tartare-mixing talent!

This was close to the Aria Hotel where we stayed. We just stumbled upon it one night, peeked in, and were taken by the absolute beauty of this place. The age of the restaurant, the hand painted walls and ceiling makes it visually unlike any restaurant I have ever experienced. The food was terrific too...An absolute must. One of the oldest restaurants in Europe.
